OPERATION

Question:
My Bathy-1500 seems to boot properly but I cannot obtain a bottom return.
Answer:
Verify proper frequency selection for the transducer used. Once the frequency is verified, verify that your transducer is wired correctly and installed correctly. The face of the transducer must be free of water bubbles or turbulence, debris or marine growth. If necessary, clean the transducer face with a mild household detergent (i.e. dishwashing liquid).

Question:
Why am unable to print from my Bathy-1500 to my TDU thermal recorder?
Answer:
First verify that your ODEC supplied printer cable is properly attached and that all TDU Dip-switch settings (on rear panel) are correct for use with the Bathy-1500 (switch settings here). Then verify that your TDU thermal recorder power switch is on and the "ON LINE" button is depressed (light is on).

Question:
What is the minimum depth that the 1500 can be operated in?
Answer:
Minimum Depth is roughly 0.5 meters but is transducer dependent and also depends on gain settings. Minimum depth of operation is discussed in detail in section 3.4.2 of the technical manual. Manual Gain settings can be adjusted in many cases to improve bottom detections in shallow water. The only point not made is connecting the transducer to a tap on the matching transformer when different than the actual matching impedance. This can be done to reduce the power transmitted in shallow water to reduce reverberations allowing decreased depth of operation.

Question:
What are the input power requirements for the Bathy 1500?
Answer:
The Bathy 1500 operates on either 115 / 230 VAC 50 / 60 Hz which is internally switch selectable; 60 Watts Nominal (80 Watts with three remotes attached). The 1500 may also operate from a deep cycle 12V marine battery using an optional inverter provided by ODEC.
